With: Van William
Van William’s ( Port O’Brien and WATERS) new EP, The Revolution is filled with numerous variations of art. Yet, it’s combination of visuals and soothing acoustic-based songs are just part of the story. William teamed with renowned photographer, Silvia Grav, to video and document William and his father’s summer fishing on Kodiak Island, Alaska. For William’s father, it was his 49th summer (and his last) on the island. For William, it was a defining time that resulted in the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.
The Revolution represents all of these emotion in song form, while the video (below) and photographs capture the stunning atmosphere.
Van William:
“Throughout my time on Kodiak Island, Alaska has always been a huge part of who I am, I’ve never been able to share much of it with anyone other than my immediate family. This video highlights how life feels up there and how heartbreaking it is to say goodbye to my years as a commercial fisherman. The songs on my EP and forthcoming album are deeply tied to my experiences on Kodiak. The fact that my life up there is ending while this project is starting feels right in every sense.”
