The Tallgrass Prairie Preserve’s southern entrance sits just outside the small city of Pawhuska, Oklahoma- About an hour drive from Tulsa International Airport
Since 1989, the Conservancy has been successful at restoring this fully-functioning portion of the tallgrass prairie ecosystem, with the use of approximatly 2,500 free ranging bison on 39,650 acres.
The Tallgrass Prairie, originally spanning portions of 14 states from Texas to Minnesota, urban sprawl and conversion to cropland have left less than 4% of this magnificent North American landscape.
