Singing loud and proud during March For Our Lives
“All that’s sacred comes from youth.”
This is most important thing going on in America right now. Emma Gonzalez. These Parkland kids — they’re beautifully relentless. They are taking control. Like the arts, they are leading the way. They’re voices of change.
In the words of the Portland punk band Dead Moon:
“This is my choice, this is my voice
There may be no tomorrow
This is my plea, this is my need
This is my time for standing free.”
We are proud supporters of March For Our Lives. As spirited hearts around the world unite and take it to the streets, we’ve compiled a playlist of songs in the vein of resolution, to accompany your powerful march. While not each song is about the act of marching itself, they were all written by artists who are pioneers of activism. They practice what they preach and furthermore, they embody the arts blazing a trail, unifying and “the people” having the power.
With that…
Patti Smith, “People Have The Power”:
I believe everything we dream can come to pass through our union
We can turn the world around
We can turn the earth’s revolution
We have the power
People have the power.
Prophets of Rage, “Strength In Numbers”:
Unify
The Doobie Brothers, “Takin’ It To The Streets”:
You… Telling me the things you’re gonna do for me
I ain’t blind and I don’t like what I think I see
Takin’ it to the streets

Fuel, “Won’t Back Down”:
I won’t back down, I will not bow.
Pearl Jam, “Can’t Deny Me”:
The higher, the farther, the faster you fly
I know it’s true, and you can’t deny me
Got nothin’ but the will to survivie…
